During the 10 th World Congress of the Theosophical Society in Rome, 10th - 15th July 2010, the interest to realize a visit to Slovenia in autumn 2010 was expressed by the EFTS Chairman, Ms. Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu, as it had been planned already for the year 2008. The opportunity was used well and a visit was organized from October 31st till November 7th, in cooperation between the EFTS and the private Institute Rman, Koper. For the needs of the visit of the EFTS Chairman, Ms. Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu, in Slovenia a temporary body was established on the initiative of Irena Polanc Kristan, the EC EFTS member, and Anton Rozman, director of the private Institute Rman, called the “Preparatory Committee for the preparation of the visit of the EFTS Chairman in Slovenia”, or in short, the “Preparatory Committee”. At the meeting on the August 20 th 2010 the above mentioned traced the direction of the Preparatory Committee functioning, which comprised the foreseen range of activities during and after the visit and which represented an extension of originally planned program which anticipated a three-days visit during the weekend, dedicated to meetings with members and former members of the TS.
Besides the above mentioned, who operated respectively as the Chairman and the Secretary of the Preparatory Committee, the following TS members were part of the Committee: Dušica Grgič, Lija Milič, Vojka Berlot and Klaudio Milič. THE TS MEMBERS MEETING
For the opening event of the EFTS Chairman's visit to Slovenia the PO prepared the TS members meeting, which took place on the premises of the Counsel Service of the Center of Social Work in Fužine, Ljubljana. The guest lectured on the theme: “Steps of Spiritual Realization”. The lecture was followed by social interaction. 15 members and sympathizers were present at the meeting. LECTURES AT THE UNIVERSITIES While preparing the EFTS Chairman's visit to Slovenia the Preparatory Committee decided to try to organize the lectures mainly for students at the Universities of Ljubljana, Koper and Maribor. To realize this goal the Preparatory Committee members made contacts with individual professors at above mentioned Universities. In that way the lecture at the Department for the Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana was organized with the help of prof. Zmago Šmitek; the lecture at the University Library Maribor of the University in Maribor was organized with the help of prof. Alenka Majcen Le Marechal; and the lecture at the Faculty for Humanities of the University of Primorska was organized with the help of prof. Ernest Ženko. At these institutions the lecturer addressed the following themes: “The Yoga of Theosophy”, “Modernity of Eternal Teaching” and “Spirituality in Everyday Life”.
PUBLIC LECTURE IN LJUBLJANA As the lecture held at the Department for the Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana was delivered in the English language only and mainly for the students, the Preparatory Committee organized an additional public lecture in Ljubljana, on the premises of the Oton Župančič Library. The theme was: “Tradition and Revolution.”
The lecture at the Department for the Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana was attended by 15 visitors, the public lectures in Ljubljana, Koper and Maribor was attended by 30 to 40 visitors. The access for visitors to all above mentioned lectures was free of charge. PUBLIC LECTURE IN PEDROVO On the basis of the Preparatory Committee members' personal contacts with the owners of the “Abram Creative Center Abram” in Pedrovo near Branik and on behalf of their interest for Theosophy a special interactive public lecture with meditation was organized at this place with the title: “Discovering Purpose of Life”. It was attended by 50 visitors.
For the needs of two lectures two PowerPoint Presentations were prepared and a projector was hired for that purpose. For the need of video registering a web camera was bought with the adequate software, for the recordings management. We are endeavoring to prepare transcripts of the lectures to be published in a special e-book which will cover the EFTS Chairman's visit to Slovenia. ADVERTISEMENT MATERIAL For the promotion of the EFTS Chairman visit, a special e-flyer and a poster (in A4 format) were prepared for each event, as well as the renovated Rman Institute web site, where special attention was given to the visit. Next to that, two issues of the Newsletter, the “Theosophical News”, were issued.
CONTACTS WITH MEDIA The Preparatory Committee paid special attention to the contacts with media and arranged interviews with the EFTS Chairman at “Studio 12”, “Aura”, “Dnevnik” and “Primorske novice”. The information about the complete program was published on the following web portals: “Sončeve pozitivke”, “Obala.net”, “Napovednik”, “Dogaja se” and “Obvestilnik”. Furthermore, all major media in the state were informed about the events.
